Do you want your community to be safe? Combine your skills with those of 40 other volunteers and staff dedicated to creating a peaceful community. While we welcome volunteers in a variety of areas, our priorities change from time to time. At this time we especially need:
 
Current Positions

Receptionist

If you like to interact with a large variety of interesting people and are friendly, patient, good at multi-tasking, and have a great telephone ability, this is the volunteer job for you. Greet shelter residents and visitors, answer the door and telephone and take messages for staff. Contact us right away by calling 218-828-1216 or by filling out a quick and easy on-line application form.

Child Care Assistant
This position will require you to relate well to young people of varying ages and backgrounds. Do you like spending time with children, playing games or doing crafts with them? Then contact us at 218-828-1216 to learn more about becoming a child care volunteer. Don't have time to call? Fill out our quick and easy on-line application form.

The Women's Centers volunteers, ranging in age from 15 - 84, provided over 4,500 hours of services in 2002. They work in nearly all the areas in which we provide services, with the exception of crisis intervention and general advocacy. Following is a list of additional volunteer jobs that may be of interest to you:
 
Handyperson
Do minor repairs, perform monthly maintenance tasks, and/or assist with yard work.

Legal Advocate
Help women fill out Order for Protection and accompany them to court hearings to provide information, knowledge and support.

Office Assistant
Photocopying, collating and stapling, word processing, or helping with our newsletter are just some of the possibilities.

Public Speaker
Spread the word about the Women's Center and the work we do at the shelter and child safety center to community organizations, professionals, church and school groups.

Transportation Assistant
Drive shelter residents and their children to and from other shelters or to appointments outside of our home county. You can also choose to help women move to new housing.
